Police rescue seven-week-old baby when arresting trio on drugs

White River police arrested three people in Mbombela Friday evening.

White River police rescued a seven-week-old baby after an investigation led the officers to a house in Mbombela where three people were suspected to be in possession of stolen items.

White River police spokesperson, Const. Funeka Mathebula, said police arrested three people, aged from 30 to 34, who have allegedly been involved in various cases of theft in White River.

She said the arrests came after an extensive investigation and an operation led by Cpt John Mabunda.

“Upon the arrival of police at the suspects’ house at 19:00, the three were found high on drugs. A seven-week-old baby who was with them was taken to a place of safety after their arrest. “Some of the stolen items where found in their house, including gate motors and gate motor batteries, after a string of gate motor thefts in the area,” she said.

The investigation is ongoing and more information will be provided as soon as an update becomes available.
