Police retrieve body in Rietspruit River, Centurion

A man believed to be in his late 30s, was spotted floating in the river behind a well-known golf estate.

A body was retrieved by the Tshwane diving team (TDT) in a river behind a well-known golf estate in Centurion on Thursday 20 May.

A man believed to be in his late 30s, was spotted floating in Rietspruit River.

Sergeant Pretty Mokadi, spokesperson for the Olievenhoutbosch police confirmed that they received a report of the body being spotted floating in the river in the morning.

It is suspected that it might be the body might be that of a man who was kidnapped in the area last week.

He has yet to be identified by any relatives.

Police, however, could not confirm this.

The deceased was an African male, wearing a black overall jacket.

“At this stage, we cannot say whether any foul play was involved as we will have to wait for the post-mortem report,” she said.
