Polokwane accountant gunned down in Ster Park

Police have launched a manhunt for the suspects involved in the murder of Saber Tayob Mohammed (51) who was gunned down early this morning.

According to police spokesperson, Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, Mohammed was jogging along Munnik Avenue in Ster Park at 06:30 this morning (March 13) when a white VW Polo drove past him and made a u-turn.

“The vehicle stopped next to him and a passenger got out of the car and shot the victim several times at point blank. The suspects then fled the scene,” he said.

Mohammed was a lecturer at the University of Limpopo and a chartered accountant.

“The motive is unknown at this stage,” Mojapelo said.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Major General Jan Scheepers, has called on anyone with information to come forward and assist in the investigations by contacting Warrant Officer Joseph Malebana on 072 492 9635 or the Crime Stop number 0860010111.
