Popular KZN IFP councillor ‘Killer’ shot dead
Police confirmed the incident; however, details surrounding the shooting are unclear at this point.
uMkhanyakude District Municipality IFP councillor Innocent Mkhwanazi, popularly known as Killer, was fatally shot yesterday evening near the Nordale area in Mtubatuba, KwaZulu-Natal.
KZN police spokesperson Captain Sbusiso Mkhize confirmed the shooting but did not provide further details.
In a statement yesterday, the IFP shared condolences to ‘all of Mkhwanazi’s family, friends, and colleagues at this very difficult time’.
“The IFP condemns this killing in the strongest possible terms. This type of violence does not bode well for our democracy and is cause for serious concern as we approach the 2024 elections,” says IFP national spokesperson Mkhuleko Hlengwa.
