Power alert: Eskom announces new load-shedding schedule
Rolling stage 4 and 5 power cuts will be the order of the day from tomorrow.

After five days of continuous stage 6 load-shedding, Eskom has announced that stage 4 power cuts will be implemented from 05:00 tomorrow.
The announcement provides some relief to South Africans, but the reality is that the intensity of load-shedding can be increased at any time.
Eskom says that stage 4 load-shedding will, until further notice, be implemented daily between 05:00 and 16:00, while stage 5 will be implemented between 16:00 and 05:00 the next day.
“Eskom cautions the public, however, that there is a high degree of uncertainty associated with this [change] and that these changes will only be possible in their entirety if units return to service as planned,” the power utility’s statement reads.
This means a change in the schedule can be announced ‘at short notice’.
