Prince Simakade files court papers to dethrone King Misuzulu

Prince Simakade wants the letter or recognition issued by President Cyril Ramaphosa to be declared invalid and set aside.

Prince Simakade has filed court papers to review and overturn King Misuzulu KaZwelithini’s legitimacy as king of the Zulu nation.

The papers, which The Witness has seen, were filed at the Pretoria High Court.

In the documents, besides Simakade’s request that the letter by the president be declared invalid, he asked the court to appoint a committee to investigate the claims by both sides in terms of the Zulu nation customary law and customs.

He said that those members of the Zulu royal family who had supported him as successor should be allowed to reply to the findings of the mediation committee that reported to Ramaphosa.

Simakade also asked the court to order the Zulu nation’s prime minister, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, not to convene any other meetings of the royal family regarding the identification of a successor.
