Proteas Women whitewash Ireland

To top off the victory, one of the players became the youngest woman, fastest South African woman and joint-third fastest woman overall to reach 3 000 ODI runs.

The Proteas Women thrashed Ireland by 189 runs in Dublin on Friday to win the ODI series 3-0.

The visitors posted 278-5 in their 50 overs thanks to 89 off 128 balls from Laura Wolvaardt and captain Suné Luus’ 104-ball 93. The dominant duo put on 177 runs for the third wicket.

In her 77th ODI, the 23-year-old Wolvaardt became the youngest woman, fastest South African woman and joint-third fastest woman overall to reach 3 000 ODI runs.

Shabnim Ismail then starred with the ball, taking 5-8 in 8.5 overs as Ireland were bowled out for 89.

Ismail became the fifth female bowler to surpass the 300 international wickets mark (three Test, 189 ODI and 112 T20I).

The Proteas won each of the first two ODIs by nine wickets.
