Protest against land grab underway in Lenasia, south of Joburg

A small group of residents in Lenasia South under the banner of Lenasia South Concerned Residents Association have taken to the streets, Rising Sun Lenasia reports.

They have barricaded roads with rocks and burning tyres. The residents are against the ongoing land grabbing that is taking place in Lenasia South Extension 4.

Lenasia South SAPS spokesperson, Seargent Khalipha Mvula said, “The roads that are currently affected include Corner Sheffield and Wellington roads. The Golden Highway is currently not affected by the ongoing protests action. There have been no reports of damage to property or injuries. The situation is currently being monitored by POPS.”
