R12m in luxury cars missing: Manhunt underway

The search is on for a Hyde Park man who allegedly fled with several luxury vehicles, including a Lamborghini and Porsche, from a dealership in Sandton.

The Sandton Police Station has launched a massive manhunt for Richard Matsimbe (35) who is wanted for theft and fraud after allegedly fleeing with cars worth a total of R12m at a car dealership.

According to the Sandton police, Matsimbe had made a deal with a Sandton-based car dealership. He was able to reach a mutual agreement with the owner to purchase several vehicles, including a Lamborghini Aventador, Porsche Cayenne GTS, BMW 7 Series and a Mercedes Benz.

The suspect, who is known to be a Hyde Park resident, has been on the run since his last deal with the car dealership in early January. A warrant of arrest has been issued.

The Sandton Police station commander, Brigadier Egen Moodley, urges the community to assist them in finding the suspect.
