R4m in jewellery taken during Kempton Park mall robbery

Police are requesting the public to come forward with information relating to an armed robbery at a jewellery store.

Nine armed men made off with about R4m worth of jewellery when they robbed a store at Festival Mall in Kempton Park, Ekurhuleni, earlier today.

According to Kempton Park SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Dipuo Ditshego, the gunmen forced open the jewellery store’s security doors, broke display cases and made off with a large number of items.

Ditshego says around R4m worth of jewellery was taken.

Units from multiple security providers and the SAPS responded to the scene.

“No shots were fired and the getaway vehicle used by the men is unknown.”
