Rape case against Gauteng teacher moves towards trial
A teacher remains out on bail under strict conditions, including a ban on contacting the complainant or witnesses and entering the school grounds in Ivory Park.
The rape case involving an Ivory Park Secondary maths teacher was postponed to September 8 when the accused appeared in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court yesterday, (August, 13), reports Kempton Express.
The teacher is accused of raping a 17-year-old learner at the school on December 25, 2025.
The matter was postponed in connection with the trial-readiness process and further investigations.
The accused was granted bail on March 17.
During the bail proceedings, he disputed the allegations and indicated that he intended to plead not guilty. He also told the court that he was cooperating with the investigating officer.
As part of his bail application, the accused undertook not to contact the complainant, her guardian or any witnesses and stated that he was not a danger to the community.
The state indicated that the complainant was not opposed to the accused being granted bail.
His bail conditions include that he may not directly or indirectly contact the complainant, her family or any witnesses. He is also prohibited from going within 50 metres of the school.
The court warned that failure to comply with the bail conditions could result in his arrest.
The accused remains out on bail and is expected to return to the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on September 8.
The allegations against the accused have not been tested in court, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
