Riots under way on N2, Knysna
The N2 in Nekkies' reputation as a chokepoint for Knysna has come into play once again as it was closed again by residents of the surrounding areas, leading to heavy traffic backups in both directions.
It is believed that rioters started carrying various forms of debris onto the road shortly before 12:00 today (August 30), to block it and prevent anyone from travelling through.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson Captain Malcolm Pojie, it is believed community members are “dissatisfied with service delivery”.
Pojie also confirmed that members of the police’s public order policing (Pops) unit have been dispatched to “analyse and resolve the problem”.
The N2 at Nekkies has been reopened to traffic.
