A collaboration between private security, SAPS and the CPF has resulted in the arrest of four men, believed to be involved in a robbery at a filling station on Tuesday.

Fidelity Services Group CEO Wahl Bartmann said at about 14:40 on the day, a report was posted on a WhatsApp group that six suspects just robbed the filling station in Brackendowns.

The suspects fled in a white Toyota Corolla towards the Mall of the South, according to an alert.

“In response, the Specialised Intervention Unit of Fidelity was dispatched from Mondeor,” Bartmann said.

Coincidently, two CPF officers from Palmridge and Mondeor had just stopped an individual driving a white Corolla, suspecting it was involved in an earlier hit-and-run.

As the Fidelity officers approached the crime scene, they realised the CPF members had unwittingly stopped the same car that had been involved in the robbery.

The occupants of the vehicle were immediately detained by the Brackendown SAPS.

There was positive identification of two of the suspects in detention based on video footage captured during the business crime. Additionally, five cellphones were confiscated, and the car was taken to the pound.

Bartmann thanked Fox Security and CPS Security who also responded to the robbery alert.

“The hit-and-run incident is still under investigation,” he said.
