SA Covid-19 cases climb to 324 221
13 172 new infections recorded on Thursday and 216 more deaths.

South Africa now has 324 221 confirmed Covid-19 cases, the Department of Health announced on Thursday.
This is an increase of 13 172 new infections from Wednesday.
The death toll of 216 was recorded, bringing the total number of coronavirus-related deaths in the country to 4 669.
Of the new recorded cases of deaths due to Covid-19, seven were from Mpumalanga, ten from the Free State, 41 from KwaZulu-Natal, 25 from Eastern Cape, 47 from Western Cape and 86 from Gauteng province.
According to data released by the Department of Health, 165 591 recoveries have been recorded to date.
In total, 2 324 923 Covid-19 tests have been conducted.
The following confirmed Covid-19 cases have been detected in each province, according to the data released on Thursday:
- Western Cape: 82 986
- Gauteng: 117 895
- KwaZulu-Natal: 35 604
- Eastern Cape: 57 186
- Limpopo: 3 883
- Mpumalanga: 5 572
- North West: 11 891
- Northern Cape: 1 831
- Free State: 7 312
- The department reported 61 unallocated cases.
