SA veteran actress found dead in her Roodepoort home

The 44-year-old from Eastern Cape was best known for her roles in television drama series such as Tsha-Tsha and Intersections on SABC 1.

South African seasoned actress Noxolo Maqashalala was reportedly found dead in her home in Honeydew, Roodepoort on Friday, 12 March.

Honeydew Police Captain Balan Muthan confirmed to Roodepoort Record that the body of a woman was found locked inside the house after police had to gained entry using a small window.

“A decomposed body was found in the house and the forensics department was called in to conduct pathology investigations and it was discovered that she died from natural causes,” Muthan explained, dismissing foul play speculations.

He added that an inquest docket was opened. The 44-year-old from Eastern Cape was best known for her roles in television drama series such as Tsha-Tsha and Intersections on SABC 1.

Her untimely death caused a shockwave in the South African entertainment industry, with industry colleagues, fans, politicians paying their tributes on social media.

Noxolo’s death follows the shattering demise of another veteran actor Menzi Ngubane, who acted in many soapies, dramas and movies in the country. He was popularly known as Judas Ngwenya on Isibaya and Sbusiso Dlomo on Generations.
