SANParks senior manager killed by hippo in Kruger National Park

He was camping with his wife in the Kruger National Park when the incident occurred.

A South African National Parks (SANParks) senior manager in the environmental crime investigation unit based in Pretoria, Kobus de Wet, has died after being attacked by a hippo.

The SANParks spokesperson, Isaac Phaahla, says the incident took place on yesterday during the day.

He says De Wet was camping with his wife in the Kruger National Park.

“Details are sketchy at this stage and circumstances around the incident are under investigation. SANParks’ executive management sends its sincere condolences to his immediate family, friends and the SANParks family. The memorial and funeral arrangements are being planned,” Phaahla says.
