Sassa beneficiaries urged to replace gold cards

The August 31 deadline looms for beneficiaries to get their Postbank black cards to avoid grant payment disruptions.

South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) beneficiaries are being urged to replace their gold cards as part of an ongoing transition to the Postbank black card system.

The Witness reports that according to Postbank, the Sassa gold card is being phased out and beneficiaries must switch to the new Postbank black card before August 31, to ensure uninterrupted access to their social grants.

Card replacements can be done at designated Postbank service sites nationwide.

Beneficiaries are encouraged to visit their nearest site for assistance with the card upgrade process.

Postbank has also cautioned beneficiaries to remain vigilant against fraud, stressing that officials will never request Pins or one-time passwords.

Beneficiaries are further advised to verify their new card. If it does not display the Postbank branding, it is not the official Postbank black card.

  • Older persons grants will be paid on June 2.
  • Disability grants will be paid on June 3.
  • Child support grants and all remaining grants will be paid on June 4.
