School bus crashes through Forever Resorts wall in Bela-Bela

Modderfontein Primary School learners were on their way home when their bus veered off the road and crashed through a resort wall.

Medical facilities in Bela-Bela had their hands full after a school bus lost control, crashed through the wall of the popular Warmbaths Forever Resort, and landed on its side yesterday. Several learners were said to have been injured in the crash.

Although the cause of the accident is still under investigation, it is suspected that the brakes failed, causing the driver to lose control of the bus. The learners were underway home from Modderfontein Primary School when the accident occurred.

Die Pos reported that one learner had to undergo emergency surgery while the bus driver was also seriously injured. The rest of the learners were treated for minor injuries at the Warmbaths Hospital.

It is currently unknown how many children were involved or injured in the accident.

The school referred enquiries to the Limpopo Department of Education who is yet to respond other than saying they are investigating the accident.
