The search-and-rescue operation for a missing Great Brak River man resumed today (May 14) with emergency teams expanding their efforts along the coastline around Hartenbos as the conditions allowed, reports George Herald.

The authorities confirmed that nobody has yet been recovered at this stage. As a result, the police have stated that they are not yet in a position to release further identifying details of the person involved.

The ongoing operation follows an earlier incident at Voëlklip near Herold’s Bay, when a vehicle had gone off a cliff during adverse weather conditions. The search has since involved multiple agencies, including police divers, EMS Search and Rescue units, municipal fire services, and traffic authorities.

Despite the intensive efforts over these last few days, no confirmed recovery has been made.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Chris Spies previously confirmed that the man had been reported missing after failing to return home on Tuesday afternoon, prompting an immediate search that led the authorities to the Voëlklip area.

The expanded coastal sweep towards Hartenbos forms part of the continued efforts to locate the missing person, and the teams are working along a broader stretch of shoreline as the weather and sea conditions permit.

The investigation and search operation remains active.
