Secunda woman’s murder: Husband abandons bail

A Mpumalanga man accused of killing his wife will remain behind bars as police continue investigating DNA evidence and video footage.

Werner Müller (43) appeared in the Secunda Regional Court on Tuesday and abandoned his bail application, reports Ridge Times.

The matter has been postponed to June 25, pending further investigation into DNA results, video footage, and witness statements.

Müller, who appeared under the legal representation of Tebogo Aphane from Aphane Attorneys, will remain in custody.

He is accused of the murder of his wife, René Müller (44).

René’s body was discovered on April 13 at approximately 12:30, concealed in a bag in a locked outside room of her townhouse in Danie Theron Street.

She had been stabbed multiple times. Müller was arrested in Mozambique on April 14 after he fled Secunda.

René’s funeral service was held on April 22 at the Old Apostolic Church in Secunda.
