Security company pounces on suspected Durban burglars

Three men believed to be involved in several house burglaries in Durban North and surrounding areas have been nabbed.

A bakkie linked to various house burglary and theft incidents in Durban North and other parts of the city was stopped by Marshall Security armed response officers yesterday morning.

“The vehicle was spotted on Ypsilanti Avenue and seemed suspicious. Upon noticing members [of Marshall Security], the driver immediately sped off. Durban North SAPS was immediately contacted for assistance,” says Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell.

The vehicle was stopped on the M4 freeway southbound in the Durban North area, leading to the apprehension of three suspects.

Multiple electrical power tools, kitchen equipment and electrical gardening tools, worth approximately R60 000, were found.

“During questioning, the suspects led us to a property on Ypsilanti Avenue in the Glenashley area where they had removed a window pane to the garage and stolen all the items,” claims Powell.

The suspects’ vehicle has also been linked to a theft case last Friday, where a trailer had been stolen from a homeowner’s property on Kinclaven Drive in the Durban North area, as well as to a theft of a motorbike on David Avenue on Wednesday morning.

The three suspects and the vehicle used in the commission of the crime were taken to Durban North SAPS for further investigation and processing.
