Security guard held hostage for over five hours

Thieves enjoyed a ‘shopping spree’ while a guard was tied up in the guardroom.

One security guard who is extremely proud of his job was caught off guard and held hostage for over five hours.

The incident occurred on Sunday, October 17 just after 19:00 at a towing yard in Klipfontein.

Two suspects apparently entered the yard from the back and walked to the front where the guard was standing by the main gate.

The suspects can be seen in the video hitting the guard and placing him on the ground before they tied his hands up and took him into the guardroom.

The suspects then went on a ‘shopping spree’ and took a couple of batteries from vehicles, a power washer, and a generator.

The suspects took more than they could carry.

Just after 01:00 they told the guard to phone for a bakkie to come collect them and their loot.

After a while, a bakkie arrived at the yard, and by this time the suspects had covered the security cameras and loaded the loot.

Once the suspects had left the security guard came out and contacted his boss to tell him what just happened.

No arrested have been made.
