Security guard shot during Mpumalanga robbery (video)

A Protea Coin security guard has been shot in the right leg during a robbery in the Secunda CBD in Mpumalanga this morning.

Witnesses said two armed young men had been involved in the robbery and wore what looked like bullet proof vests over white T-shirts, Ridge Times reported.

In the video, the security guard is seen treated by paramedics on the scene outside Spar.

It was alleged that one of the two suspects had shot the guard while the other suspect grabbed the money before fleeing the scene.

Witnesses added that Spar personnel had bandaged the guard’s wound while they were waiting for an ambulance.

Investigations are ongoing.

Last month, a security guard was shot and wounded during a bank robbery in Fordsburg, Johannesburg.

It was alleged that an armed suspect had entered the bank, shot a security guard in the hand, and took two bags of cash before fleeing the scene.

No arrests had been made.
