Senior Limpopo traffic official strangled while exercising, 4 arrested

Three men and a woman have been arrested in connection with the murder of a senior inspector from the Mutale Traffic Station.

Limpopo’s provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has applauded the meticulous work of investigators in Vhembe District following the swift apprehension of four suspects who allegedly killed a senior Limpopo traffic officer.

According to an article published by Polokwane Review, Mbulaheni Patrick Netshidzivhani, a senior provincial inspector attached to the Mutale Traffic Station, was reported missing on Sunday after he left home in Hamakhuvha village and went to the Khunguni mountain to exercise. He didn’t return.

The matter was reported to the police and an investigation led to the recovery of Netshidzivhani’s vehicle.

“Four suspects, three men and a woman, were arrested and the inspector’s body was retrieved from the mountain shortly after,” police spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba says.

He adds that while a post-mortem is yet to be conducted, preliminary reports indicate the deceased was strangled to death.

Hadebe has reassured the community that the police will work hard to get to the bottom of this ‘senseless and brutal killing’.

The suspects will appear in the Mutale Magistrate’s Court soon, facing murder charges.
