Severed private parts in mug: Police’s horror discovery in Gauteng house
The motive behind the slaughtering of a man, allegedly by his mentally unstable son, is unknown.
A 21-year-old man who handed himself over to police for allegedly brutally murdering his father has been referred to Weskoppies Psychiatric Hospital in Pretoria.
The victim, Charlie Mthimunye (59), had his throat and chest cut open, his ears severed, and his genitals removed and placed in a mug.
Khulekani Mthimunye walked into the Ekangala Police Station to report that he had killed his father with a knife.
The incident happened in Ekangala Section B, in Tshwane, Gauteng, at about 02:30 on October 8.
The police who attended the scene found Charlie butchered in the bedroom. He was naked and lying on the floor.
According to police spokesman Warrant Officer Johan van Dyk, the son allegedly slaughtered Charlie, cutting his throat and chest open down to his abdomen. A knife, the suspected murder weapon, was found next to the deceased.
When the murder happened, it was alleged that only the deceased and the suspect were in the house. The motive is unknown.
According to the family, Khulekani is mentally unstable.
The Ekangala police arrested Khulekani. He appeared in the Bronkhorstspruit Magistrate’s Court, and was remanded in custody for further investigation.
He will appear in court again on Monday.
