Sharks coach Etienne Fynn has made several personnel changes from a 44-15 hammering for the Sharks against the Free State Cheetahs on May 14, as the Durbanites look to secure a top-four finish.

Dian Bleuler and Jason Alexander take over at loosehead prop and hooker, respectively, for the injured Khwezi Mona and Fez Mbatha.

Thembelani Bholi shifts to lock in place of Emile van Heerden, with Jeandre Labuschagne taking his place on the flank, joining James Venter, who reverts to the captaincy and takes over from Dylan Richardson.

In the only changes to the backline, there is a new halfback partnership with Zee Mkhabela replacing Cameron Wright and Tito Bonilla replacing Boeta Chamberlain.

Wingers Sivi Zondani and Gerado Jaars, and prop Keagan Glade and hooker Jacques Theron, have been named among the replacements and will make their first appearance in the competition should they take the field.

The Lions earned a first win of the tournament last week against Western Province – who the Sharks play in next weekend’s final round – that no doubt will give the Joburgers confidence for the trip to Durban.

The Sharks are being pursued by the Pumas on the log and an interesting weekend awaits with the Nelspruit outfit facing the high-riding Cheetahs in Bloemfontein.
