Shooting in Chatsworth leaves man with severe injuries
A man with multiple gunshot wounds was airlifted in KZN after emergency teams called in a helicopter response.
A man believed to be in his 40s was airlifted to hospital after being shot in Chatsworth, KZN, this afternoon, reports The Witness.
According to Garrith Jamieson from ALS Paramedics, paramedics and Amawele emergency services responded to a shooting incident on Chatsworth Main Road in the Bayview area shortly after midday.
On arrival, paramedics found security personnel and SAPS in attendance and were shown to a man with multiple gunshot wounds.
“Immediately, advanced life support paramedics began to stabilise the man believed to be in his 40s,” he says.
Jamieson says that due to the severity of the man’s injuries, a decision was made to call in the Netcare911 aeromedical helicopter for the rapid transportation to a level 1 hospital for urgent care.
He adds that at this stage, the events leading up to the shooting are unknown; however, SAPS were in attendance and will be investigating further.
