South Africa vs Wales: Will the Springboks shine or buckle under pressure?

Even though the test against Wales should be a comfortable win for the Springboks, there are concerns that the South African side might be too at ease going into the clash.

For the first time since winning the Rugby World Cup three years ago, the Springboks will be playing an international test in front of a live crowd against Wales this weekend.

Rugby writers Mark Keohane and Zelim Nel share their opinions on what rugby fans could expect from the clash happening at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria on Saturday. About 50 000 people are expected in the sold out stadium.

Watch:

“Wales come here as the underdogs. It seems like the Boks have a settled team and they absolutely have their ducks in a row. All things considered they should win well,”  says Keohane. He predicts the Boks should win by 20 points.

Nel, however, has some concerns that the Springboks might lose against Wales.

“The Boks love it to have their backs against the wall. We love it when people think we can’t do the job and I think going into a match where we are such favourites, given some of the selections we’ve made and the fact that Wales have just lost against Italy, makes me wonder. My feeling is this will be the worst performance from the Boks this series.”
