Stage 2 power cuts implemented until further notice

Eskom says available generation capacity has marginally deteriorated.

Eskom announced that despite five generating units being returned to service over the weekend, load-shedding must be implemented to replenish emergency reserves in preparation for the higher electricity demand during the week.

The power utility predicts that an update will be given on Wednesday unless any significant changes occur before then.

Breakdowns currently amount to 14 759MW while 7 639MW is unavailable due to planned maintenance.

It is planned to return 2 320MW to service by Wednesday.
