Stage 3 load-shedding implemented until further notice once again

Due to delays in repair work and breakdowns at power stations, Eskom says that stage 3 load-shedding will continue, unlike previously communicated.

Eskom announced this evening that stage 3 load-shedding will once again be implemented until further notice.

The power utility previously said that stage 3 would be suspended tomorrow morning, but due to breakdowns and other factors it has been extended.

“The delay in the return to service of a generating unit each at Duvha, Grootvlei, Kendal and two units at Tutuka power stations, as well as breakdowns of a unit each at Kusile and Komati power stations have necessitated this escalation of load-shedding.”

According to Eskom, there are currently no units in service at Kusile Power Station due to breakdowns on three units while one unit is out of service on planned maintenance.

The power utility said it would update the public as soon as any significant changes occurred.
