Stage 4 load-shedding to continue until Friday

Power utility Eskom announced that lower stages of load-shedding are a possibility from Saturday.

Stage 4 load-shedding will continue to be implemented until Friday, Eskom announced.

The power utility initially planned to ease the stages of blackouts to stage 2, however, due to unplanned losses of generation capacity, this will not be a reality.

In a statement, Eskom said that breakdowns at their Kendal and Tutuka power stations and a delay to return a power unit at the Camden power station, contributed to capacity constraints.

The power utility added they currently have 5 209MW on planned maintenance and that a further 16  669MW of capacity is unavailable due to breakdowns.
