Stormers get Bok boost for Ulster trip

Two former Springboks have been included in the DHL Stormers' squad that will face Ulster in Ireland this weekend.

Springboks Scarra Ntubeni and Juan de Jongh have been included in a 27-man DHL Stormers squad for the Vodacom United Rugby Championship clash against Ulster in Belfast on Friday.

New signing Ruben van Heerden has also been selected as lock Marvin Orie leads a squad with a blend of youth and experience, in the absence of regular captain Steven Kitshoff, who is being rested along with fellow Bok Damian Willemse.

Veteran hooker Ntubeni and centre De Jongh have not featured for the reigning URC champions this season due to injury.

The Stormers left Cape Town yesterday, following a 30-16 win against French Top 14 club Clermont Auvergne at Cape Town Stadium, which secured the Capetonians a place in the Champions Cup Round of 16.

Head coach John Dobson said that there are a number of players in the squad who will be looking to make a big impression.

“We have some players missing due to resting protocols and injuries, but this is a squad full of talent and we are looking forward to seeing what they can do,” he said.

“We will not have a lot of training time this week, but everyone is looking forward to the challenge.”
