Student organistion in Limpopo to march in Polokwane tomorrow
Motorists should expect delays in and around the departments of Education and Health.
The Congress of South African Students (COSAS) in Limpopo will march to the Department of Education and the Department of Health tomorrow (August 5).
Dubbed the ‘Cosas Limpopo Provincial March’, students are expected to meet at the park next to SABC at 10:00.
They are then scheduled to march towards the education department in Biccard street and proceed to the health department in College Avenue.
Delays are expected and motorists are advised to use alternative routes instead.
Cosas Limpopo provincial secretary Sello Mahladisha told Review that they are marching because their queries have been ignored.
“We have written letters to these departments and have had no response. There is a need for vaccinations as young people across the country are dying,” he emphasised.
Their demands:
- Vaccinations for all pre-tertiary learners
- A consistent nutrition programme
- Immediate delivery of mobile classrooms
- Immediate cancellation of physical learning and teaching. They demand for the return of rotational teaching and learning.
- Free Wi-Fi
Mahladisha reiterated that they do not expect more than the permitted 100 people to attend the march. “We are aware of current regulations that allows 100 people at gatherings that take place outside. All Covid-19 protocols will be observed,” he concluded.
