Suspect in Ermelo cop’s murder case gets bail, surrenders passport

A suspect in Lieutenant Colonel Piet Pretorius’ murder case was granted bail with strict conditions, including surrendering her passport.

The four additional suspects linked to the murder of Lieutenant Colonel Piet Pretorius, commander of the Vehicle Crime Investigation Unit, appeared in the Ermelo Magistrate’s Court on Friday.

Highvelder News reports that during this third court appearance, Phetheni Samaria Duba (37) was granted R10 000 bail.

Pretorius (59) was killed during a shooting on January 16.

Duba’s bail conditions include reporting to the Ermelo Police Station twice a week and not leaving the Gert Sibande District without the investigating officer’s authorisation.

Duba also had to hand in her passport.
