Teenage girl arrested for mother’s murder in Polokwane
Police are looking for a man they believe committed the murder on the girl’s request.

A 16-year-old girl is accused of arranging her mother’s murder because she ‘wanted freedom’ by getting outside help. The girl appeared in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court yesterday on a charge of murder while police are looking for the second suspect.
Limpopo police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafelo Mojapelo says that the girl allegedly met with a man to assist her in killing her mother on Wednesday.
“The minor suspect met the wanted suspect in Lesedi Park on the outskirts of Polokwane and had a conversation in which she told him that her mother was denying her freedom and that she wanted to get rid of her. The two then went to her house to wait for the girl’s mother,” he says.
It is suspected that the girl’s mother collapsed after she was attacked with a frying pan. She was also allegedly strangled. The duo then dragged her to a bedroom and left her there.
“The minor suspect slept in her mother’s vehicle that night and only reported the matter to the police the following day (Thursday). She alleged that she found her mother in a pool of blood,” Mojapelo says.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the girl conspired with her accomplice.
“She was arrested and charged while a manhunt for her accomplice was launched. We are calling on a certain Lebalang to avail himself at the nearest police station to assist in the investigation,” Mojapelo says.
Anyone with information that can assist in the arrest of the remaining suspect can contact the investigating officer Sergeant Braidon Pheme on 072 294 4760/ 082 729 0049, the crime stop number on 08600 10111 or the nearest police station.
