Teenager (17) murdered: Man arrested in Mpumalanga
A teenager who was last seen by her family when she went to catch a bus to school was found dead with a rope around her neck.
A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a 17-year-old girl whose body was found in a room in Ext 16 in KaNyamazane, Mpumalanga, yesterday.
According to an article published by Mpumalanga News, he is expected to appear in the KaNyamazane District Court on Monday.
According to police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane, the victim’s family last saw her early yesterday morning, when she went to catch a bus to school.
“At around 17:30, the police received a call from a complainant in Ext 16. On their arrival, they found the suspect. He directed the officers to a room where the victim’s body was discovered. The man told the officers the room belongs to his brother and he did not know anything about what had happened.
“The victim was still wearing her school uniform and her body was covered with a duvet cover. There was a rope around her neck and another piece hanging from the roof,” she says.
The circumstances surrounding the victim’s death are still under investigation.
“However, the probe thus far has convinced the police that the suspect is implicated in this case. He was arrested and charged with murder,” Ndubane says.
