Trio behind bars following brutal Zamdela murder

Three people will soon appear in the Sasolburg Magistrate’s Court in connection with the murder of an alleged house robber.

A mob justice attack turned deadly in Zamdela in the Free State over the weekend.

According to an article published by Sedibeng Ster, three people were arrested after a 23-year-old man was assaulted and killed, allegedly by the trio, after he allegedly broke into one of their houses on Sunday.

Instead of calling the local police, the homeowner and two accomplices allegedly took matters into their own hands.

According to Fezile Dabi District police spokesperson Sergeant Josephine Rani, police received a complaint at about 18:00 about a person who was assaulted.

“The police rushed to the scene and, on arrival, they were pointed to the deceased, who was lying on the ground in the yard,” she says.

Rani says paramedics confirmed the man’s death shortly thereafter.

“The suspects, aged between 24 and 28, were swiftly arrested and are now in police custody.”

The suspects are facing a murder charge and will appear in the Sasolburg Magistrate’s Court soon.
