As part of ongoing management operations to remove man-made infrastructure from river systems, the Kruger National Park, in conjunction with the South African National Defence Force (SANDF), will carry out demolition operations at the Kanniedood and Sirheni dams from Monday until March 20.

For the safety of visitors and staff, certain roads will be closed from tomorrow until March 21, reports the Lowvelder.

These include the S50 (Shingwedzi, between the S134 and S143 junctions) and the S57 (Sirheni Road, from Shisha Crossing to the junction with the Sirheni Bush Camp detour).

Rangers and SANDF teams will be on standby to address wildfires and will conduct ground clearance to protect people and animals.

Aerial surveillance will be conducted before detonation, and military medics will be deployed on site.

Guests and staff are advised that the demolition will involve the use of explosives, followed by rubble removal.
