Two dams to be demolished in Kruger National Park

Visitors to the Kruger National Park can expect temporary road closures and controlled explosions during the demolition of two dams.

As part of ongoing management operations to remove man-made infrastructure from river systems, the Kruger National Park, in conjunction with the South African National Defence Force (SANDF), will carry out demolition operations at the Kanniedood and Sirheni dams from March 9 to 20.

For the safety of visitors and staff, certain roads will be closed from March 8 to 21.

These include the S50 (Shingwedzi, between the S134 and S143 junctions) and the S57 (Sirheni Road, from Shisha Crossing to the junction with the Sirheni Bush Camp detour).
