Two Joburg mothers murdered, allegedly by their partners

Both women were stabbed in the upper body, one inside her house and the other while waiting for the school bus with her children.

Two women were stabbed to death in front of their children in separate incidents in Johannesburg on Monday. In both cases, the victims’ partners have been arrested and charged for their deaths.

In Crystal Park, Benoni, an argument between a couple allegedly led to the fatal stabbing of a woman in her home, allegedly by her partner. Her two children and mother were in the house when the incident happened.

Crystal Park police spokesperson Sergeant Lerato Mopeli says it is thought that the man then took the victim’s vehicle and withdrew money from her bank accounts.

Mopeli says the man, along with three others, was tracked to a veld in Kliprivier where they were allegedly busy with a cleansing ceremony. All four men, one of them identified as a traditional healer, were arrested and have since appeared in the Benoni Magistrate’s Court on murder charges. murder.

On the same day about 30km away in Thembisa, a woman was stabbed to death while she was waiting for the school bus with her children.

Rabie Ridge police spokesperson Sergeant Jacob Nhlongo says an eyewitness alleges that the woman was standing in the street with her children, a two-month-old baby and a seven-year-old, when her ex-boyfriend stabbed her once in the upper body before walking away.

“She made an attempt to rush to the house adjacent to where she was standing, but she was unable to do so due to the severity of her injuries,” says Nhlongo.

He says the accused, who is a well-known member of the Mayibuye community, was handed over to police by his family.

He has been charged with murder in the Thembisa Magistrate’s Court.
