Two killed and seven injured in Ga-Rankuwa tavern shooting

Gunmen randomly shot at patrons at a tavern in Ga-Rankuwa, Tshwane, just before midnight on Friday.

Two people were shot and killed, and seven others wounded, when unknown suspects fired shots at patrons at the Twin Tavern in Ga-Rankuwa on Friday evening.

Police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Sello said the unknown suspects who randomly shot at patrons were driving a silver Polo. The drive-by shooting happened just before midnight, she said.

Sello said the motive for the shooting was unknown at this stage.

“Police will be investigating two cases of murder and seven cases of attempted murder.

“Anyone who may have information about the incident or the suspects, is urged to report it at the nearest police station or on the Crime Stop Hotline at 08600 10111.

“Anonymous tip-offs can also be reported via my WhatsApp.

“All information received will be treated as strictly confidential,” she said.
