Two people were killed in a horrific accident on the N2 on Sunday morning near Durban.

Netcare 911 spokesperson, Shawn Herbst, said the accident occurred near the M25 Kwa-Mashu off-ramp at about 06:30.

“Reports indicate that the driver of an SUV lost control, resulting in the vehicle crashing through the safety barriers, down an embankment about 15m, coming to rest on railway tracks below.

“When medics arrived on scene, they found that the occupants had been thrown from the vehicle. On assessment, medics found that an adult male and adult female had sustained fatal injuries and were declared deceased on the scene,” Herbst said.

He added the third patient, an adult male, sustained moderate to serious injuries and was treated on scene before being transported to hospital.
