Two killed in N2 crash near uMhlanga

Two people were injured and two more died when two vehicles collided in a rear-ended crash.

Two people were killed in a horrific accident on the N2 near uMhlanga on Sunday afternoon.

Paramedics from Netcare 911, VIP Medical and ALS Paramedics responded to the scene just after 16:30 in the southbound lane.

According to Garrith Jamieson from ALS Paramedics, two vehicles collided in a rear-ended crash.

“The vehicles obstructed most of the roadway and had collided in a rear-end format. Two people, a man and woman, were found severely entrapped in the wreckage. Advanced Life Support Paramedics quickly assessed them both and found that they showed no signs of life, and there was nothing more paramedics could do for them. They were both declared deceased on the scene.

“Two others sustained moderate injuries and were stabilised on the scene before being transported to a nearby Durban hospital. At this stage, the events leading up to the accident are unknown, however, SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further,” Jamieson said.

It has been a deadly week on KwaZulu-Natal’s roads.

On Friday, a horrific crash on the N2 near Pongola claimed the lives of 21 people (19 children and two adults).
