Two women wounded in drive-by shooting in KZN

Nearly 30 spent 9mm cartridges were found on the scene.

Two women were seriously wounded when they sustained multiple gunshot wounds in a drive-by shooting in Springfield Park this morning.

According to Reaction Unit South Africa spokesperson, Prem Balram, they were contacted by a passer-by on Inanda Road, just off the N2 highway.

“On arrival, reaction officers discovered multiple private ambulances on the scene. It was established that the occupants of a white bakkie opened fire on a white BMW X5.

“Two women in the SUV were seriously injured. Approximately 30 spent 9mm cartridges were recovered at the scene,” said Balram.

The Northglen News reported that the women are a mother and daughter.

He added that both women were stabilised on scene before being transported to hospital by ambulance.

ALS Paramedics were also on scene and said that both women sustained multiple gunshot wounds and were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
