UPDATE: Limpopo FF Plus leader denies using ‘k-word’
According to the FF Plus, the video was taken five years ago when Marcelle Maritz was still a DA councillor.
The Freedom Front Plus in Limpopo says they will internally investigate allegations of the use of the k-word by Lim FF+ Leader, Marcelle Maritz, Polokwane Review reports.
In a statement released, the party says they became aware of the DA’s complaint today and says the video was taken five years ago while Maritz was still a DA councillor.Maritz has also denied that she used the k-word after a video surfaced of her referring to the APK Church as the “Church without k***rs”.
“FF Plus’ leadership will investigate the matter internally to ascertain the truth. We are strongly opposed to any form of racism from any side of society and will act strongly if necessary,” the statement concluded.
The DA’s NCOP Member, Beyers Smit, together with the DA Limpopo Provincial Chairperson, Geoffrey Tshibvumo will on Thursday, 26 September, lay criminal charges against Maritz and will report her to the South African Human Rights Commission. They say the incident constitutes crimen injuria.
