Veteran journalist Eusebius McKaiser dies

The former 702 presenter died, reportedly at his home in Johannesburg, this afternoon.

Journalist, author and presenter Eusebius McKaiser (45) passed away earlier today.

His death was confirmed by his manager, Jackie Strydom, to several media houses, including News 24 and TimesLive.

According to reports, McKaiser suffered an epileptic seizure.

McKaiser still posted tweets earlier today. One of his last posts encouraged his followers to watch Musa Motha’s performance at Britain’s Got Talent, saying he hoped Motha would become a household name in SA:

His death is mourned by many and several people have shared their condolences on social media.
Thuli Madonsela described his death as a monumental loss.

Vincent Magwenya, spokesperson for President Cyril Ramaphosa, said he followed McKaiser’s work and enjoyed his shows and interviews when he was at 702.

Herman Mashaba, leader of ActionSA, said his death has shaken him. “Such a bright young man taken so soon.”
