Photos and video footage shared on social media show the Hawk S vessel smashing into a harbour quay Port of Durban, reports Berea Mail.

The dramatic incident reportedly took place on Monday, August 31, due to a suspected brake failure.

In a statement today, Transnet National Ports Authority confirmed that the incident occurred at the Port of Durban on August 31. The authority said the vessel was moved to an alternative berth for inspections and that there were no reports of injuries. An investigation will be launched to establish the circumstances surrounding the collision.
