Video: Cash-in-transit robbery leaves 1 dead, 2 injured in Witbank

A teacher and security guard were wounded during a cash-in-transit robbery in eMalahleni.

A cross-pavement cash-in-transit turned fatal this morning when a guard was shot dead, and a second guard and a teacher wounded, reports Witbank News.

Dino Padayachee from Langamed Emergency Management said his paramedics treated the teacher from Siyabuswa who was shot in the leg during the shoot-out.

“The teacher told us she came with a child and we went into the bank and found the child safe with only abrasions on the leg,” Padayachee said.

Gunmen opened fire on the guards in front of Standard Bank in the CBD.

On the pavement outside the bank, a trail of empty shell casings told of the tragedy that unfolded.

“It was frightening. We did not know where the next bullet was going to land,” one of the staff members, who wish to stay anonymous”, said.
