Video: Family holds onto faith as Crocodile River search continues
Family members of the last missing occupant of a vehicle that crashed into a river have gathered in Mpumalanga in the hope that he will be found alive.
Thapelo Mogane expressed deep gratitude for the love and support shown during the search for his missing nephew, 21‑year‑old Zanende Chiloane, reports Lowvelder.
He said the family, who have gathered from across the country at the Crocodile River, are people of faith and continue to hope not only to retrieve a body, but to bring Chiloane back alive.
Mogane emphasised that the community’s prayers and presence have carried them through this painful time.
The incident unfolded after three students, returning from a rugby match and a local restaurant, plunged into the Crocodile River when their vehicle left the road.
Rescue teams recovered the bodies of Vigo Godfrey (20) and Tintswalo Khoza on Sunday (June 7), but the search for the third occupant, Chiloane, has been hampered by hippo‑infested waters.
Family members have gathered at the river as police divers, drones, and community volunteers continue efforts to bring closure.
