Video: Family of 3 shot near KZN township after vehicle breaks down, 2 dead

Police are investigating the motive behind a shooting in which a father and son were killed and a woman was shot in the legs.

A family of three was shot after their vehicle broke down while travelling along the R603 near Adams Mission and Illovo township in KZN yesterday.

“Paramedics were called to assist multiple members of a family who had been shot. It is alleged that the vehicle had broken down on the R603, and they were then approached by gunmen and shot multiple times,” says ALS Paramedics spokesperson, Garrith Jamieson.

“The family ran for their lives and unfortunately both the father and the son sustained multiple gunshot wounds and [were] declared deceased on the scene. The mom sustained serious gunshot wounds to her lower legs.”

South Coast Sun reports that she was stabilised on the scene.

Gunshot shells were seen along the road near the scene.

The cause of the shooting is unknown.

Police were on the scene and the shooting is being investigated.
